Leading up to his final marathon, Ben Ashworth is looking for the man who helped him on his first.
The dad-of-three who is tackling six marathons in six months, as well as terminal bowel cancer, will finish his mammoth task this Sunday in Berlin.
And he wants to say thank you to the man who signed up on the day of his first marathon to run half of it with him.
Ben said: “Ahead of my very first marathon in Blackpool, a chap had seen my story in the Lancashire Evening Post in his local chippy the night before the race.
“When he saw it he simply took it upon himself to sign up the next day for the half marathon to run alongside me.
Ben added: “All I know is his name is Mike and he is from Leyland and that’s it.
“He told me he had ran a few marathons before but ahead of the one we ran together, he hadn’t done any training.
“I’d just like to meet up with him again and say thank you because I don’t think I could have got through it.”
