An animal rescue home is looking for DIY enthusiasts, businesses and gardening groups to help them spruce up their centre.
John Wareing, centre manager at the Preston branch of the RSPCA on Longridge Road, says the animal home is in desperate need of some TLC.
He said: “The building is very old and as we have no money, other than what we struggle to find for the animal’s care, then sadly the repair and maintenance of the building suffers.
“The whole building needs cleaning, repairing and painting.
“It would be fantastic if any businesses could kindly donate pots of paint, garden centres and nurseries donate plants, and flowers or florists to donate hanging baskets for instance.”
In return for donations the centre would be willing to display signs, letting the public know who has donated as well as giving them publicity on their social networking sites.
John said: “As you know we have very little money left but very big hearts.
“We are struggling to keep our centre open but doing everything we can to try.
“We would also like to hear from groups of people who would like to donate their time to complete some of these tasks.”
John and the team are also hoping to hear from computer or IT companies to replace or repair three dilapidated computers that are used to run the centre.
An Easter Fair has been planned for April 21 to help generate funds.
John said: “We have had some stocks built and I believe that I’m going to be spending time in them whilst everyone throws wet sponges at me!”
