A LEYLAND optician is offering people practical advice on how to deal with hay fever.
During Allergy Awareness Week, which runs from April 28 to May 4, sufferers in Preston and South Ribble can turn to staff at Leyland Opticians for help in preventing irritated eyes.
Diane Wildman, of Leyland Opticians, based in Hough Lane, said: “The warm, sunny weather were are now experiencing means conditions are perfect for the first wave of early flowering trees to release their pollen, but this sadly spells misery for hay fever sufferers.”
She added: “Spring can be a difficult time for individuals affected by seasonal eye allergies.
“Symptoms such as itchiness, tearing and redness of eyes have been shown to be troublesome enough to interfere with quality of life, affecting leisure time and sports activities, school performance and even productivity at work. People can also suffer more sinus-related headaches, which again are seasonally related.”
Top tips to help combat eye problems during times of high pollen counts include keeping windows and doors closed and washing hair and closed regularly.
