Rally cry for Preston women to race for life

Latest news from the Lancashire Evening Post

Latest news from the Lancashire Evening Post

Entry for this year’s Race For Life event will open today.

Event organisers, Cancer Research UK, are issuing the rallying cry ‘cancer, we’re coming to get you’ to mums, daughters, sisters, grandmas and friends to take part in the event which will be held at Preston’s Moor Park on Sunday, June 16.

Maria Montgomery, Cancer Research UK’s North West Events Manager, said: “Every hour, around four people are diagnosed with cancer in the North West

“Last year, 1,839 women took part in Race for Life in Preston and raised a fantastic £91,287.

This year, organisers need 1900 women and girls to help raise £90,000.

“Women of all shapes, sizes, ages and levels of fitness take part in Race for Life because it is non-competitive.

“It’s not about being fit or fast, most women are able to walk 5k in an hour while chatting and having fun.”

Entry to take part in this year’s event is now open online at www.raceforlife.org or by calling 0845 600 6050.
