Smokers in Lancashire are being urged to stub it out as ‘Stoptober’ commences next month.
The national campaign, which is being run by Public Health England, encourages people to contact their local stop smoking service to get the support they need to give up during October.
And Lancashire County Council is supporting the campaign locally and encouraging residents to support each other to quit their habit.
For those looking for help to quit the habit, a road show will be held at St George’s Shopping Centre, Preston on Sunday September 15.
Stop smoking service advisors will be on hand to give information and support between 10am and 5pm.
Research has shown that people who use the stop smoking service are four times more likely to quit permanently.
And 22.3% of Lancashire’s population are smokers.
