Chorley MP Lindsay Hoyle has thrown his weight behind Macmillan’s new campaign for improving cancer care.
A report by the charity shows many patients have a poor experience of dignity and respect throughout their cancer journey.
Now Macmillan wants the Government and the NHS to ensure cancer patient experience has the same weight as clinical effectiveness and patient safety.
It also urges the NHS to deliver coordinated and improved communication between staff and patients.
At the launch of the study, Mr Hoyle said: “All cancer patients in Chorley should be treated with dignity, respect, care and compassion.
“However, this is not always the case. Improvements are needed on several areas such as communication and coordination.”
