The head of the Major Trauma Centre at Royal Preston Hospital has been shortlisted for a prestigious Health Service Journal (HSJ) award.
Andy Curran has been nominated for always putting patients first, working collaboratively across organisational boundaries, and engaging every member of staff so they understand the role they play.
He has also been the driving force in developing Preston as an effective major trauma service, backed by the Evening Post with a successful £500,000 campaign for a CT scanner.
Andy said: “My focus has always been to work closely with colleagues in the hospital and in other organisations to make sure that together we do the right thing for patients.
“This approach has helped us develop and implement an effective major trauma network in our region, and consistently achieve high standards of care within our Emergency Department.
“This success is the result of a real team effort and I’d like to thank all of my colleagues for their support and commitment to continuously improve care for patients.”
There are 10 people shortlisted for the Clinical Leader of the Year Award. The winner will be announced on Tuesday, November 19.
