Helpline open for holidays
A dedicated helpline is offering a listening ear to people who need someone to talk to over Christmas.
The mental health helpline, which runs throughout the year, will remain open during the holidays.
Run by Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust and staffed by volunteers, the helpline offers advice to people who may be feeling low.
Lorraine Khalaf, the helpline’s manager said: “The helpline is here to offer confidential support and information to people who feel distressed and want someone to talk to or even just listen to them.
“We understand that the festive and winter season can be especially hard for people and want everyone to know that we’re here to talk to anyone who is feeling down.
“It can be difficult to pick up the phone but we’re here to help and you really have nothing to lose by calling us.”
The helpline will be open every day from 7pm to 11pm over Christmas and New Year on freephone 0500 639000. Normal opening hours will then resume: 7pm to 11pm Monday to Friday and noon to midnight on Saturdays and Sundays
