People are urged to take a nostalgic step back in time and enjoy music from the 80s to boost funds for the Logan North Appeal.
Logan North, five, of Collins Road, Bamber Bridge, near Preston, has Stage IV neuroblastoma and his family are desperately trying to raise £250,000 to send him to America for lifesaving treatment.
Logan is currently undergoing radiotherapy to target any remaining cancer cells and if this is successful, he will be ready to head to America for the immunotherapy stage of his treatment as treatment in the US is more advanced and has a lower risk of relapse.
Logan had just started school last year when he was diagnosed with the aggressive cancer after complaining of pains in his stomach and back.
He has already had surgery, intensive chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant and is now having radiotherapy at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
Since the Evening Post revealed Logan’s plight, the community has rallied with fundraising events and the once outstanding monies have been collected, the total raised so far will be £40,000.
Mum-of-three Jaime Leigh was so touched after hearing Logan’s story, she felt she had to do something and she contacted Logan’s family and has now become good friends with them.
Jaime and Logan’s mum Amanda have organised a Back to the 80s disco which will be held tomorrow at the Priory Club on Broadfield Drive, Leyland.
Jaime said: “When I heard all about Logan and what his family were going through, I felt compelled to help and I contacted his family and have got to know them really well.
“My little boy Charlie, who is four has now become really good friends with Logan and we regularly go round to see Logan so the two of them can play and it helps give Logan a sense of normality.
“We hope as many people as possible come to the 80s disco so we can raise lots of money towards Logan’s appeal.”
The Back to the 80s disco will begin at 7.30pm tomorrow and tickets are £5. Fancy dress is optional.
Tickets can be bought on the night or by calling Jaime on: 07504 109110. Visit: www.justgiving.com/logannorthappeal
