Staff at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have taken part in an initiative to raise awareness of the importance of good nutrition and hydration.
As part of Nutrition and Hydration Week, staff at Royal Preston Hospital hosted afternoon tea for patients, visitors and staff on one of its Medical Rehabilitation Units.
People on the ward were also invited to sit in the day rooms and enjoy cups of tea and cakes, with ice cream and trifle on offer for patients on soft diets.
On Friday both the Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley Hospital will be serving ‘Modified Texture Meals’ to anyone who would like to try a sample of the different kinds of food that are provided for patients who have trouble chewing or swallowing.
This will take place at the hospitals’ restaurants between 2pm and 3pm.
