A new partnership, launched between health professionals and the ambulance service, will benefit North Lancashire and Garstang patients.
Community health staff in North Lancashire are piloting an innovative partnership with the North West Ambulance Service to help reduce inappropriate A&E admissions.
A new community care pathway has been devised for patients who have fallen, are known COPD sufferers, or are in the palliative stage of their illness.
The plans will operate in Lancaster, Morecambe, Carnforth and Garstang, and provide a safe alternative way to the traditional transfer by ambulance crews to A&E. Mark Newton, consultant paramedic for North West Ambulance Service, said: “This is an exciting and pioneering project which will give patients an improved quality and standard of care.Paramedics have been fully trained for the project.”
