Growth expected for Lancashire energy group

Managing director Janet Thornton at Inspired Energy in Kirkham.

Managing director Janet Thornton at Inspired Energy in Kirkham.

A Lancashire energy group has said it expects to see further growth in the next 12 months.

Kirkham-based Inspired Energy, which buys and manages energy for blue-chip businesses, has reported its revenues for the full year to be “marginally ahead” of market expectations.

It also told shareholders on Friday it expected pre-tax profits to be “broadly in line” with forecasts.

Managing director Janet Thornton said the group’s order book had been boosted by the acquisition of rival Direct Energy Purchasing (DEP) last April.

She said: “We have a strong contracted order book and the board is confident of the group’s outlook.

“We look forward to continued organic growth in the year ahead, alongside the pursuit of further earnings enhancing acquisitions.”

The acquisition of DEP boosted the group’s audit book by £2.6m to £8.9m at the end of 2012.

Inspired’s net debt is expected to be around £1.8m at the end of the financial year.
