A local housing group marked a double century of helping young people gain work.
Chorley Community Housing, part of the Adactus Housing Group, celebrated the 200th work placement at the organisation last week.
A-level student, Jack Gummerson, spent a week working at the company’s base in St Thomas’s Road, Chorley as part of the Group’s Step Forward programme.
And Jayne Allison, Adactus’ employment and skills manager, believes the scheme helps youngsters find a job and is looking forward to helping more job seekers.
She said: “The Step Forward programme offers individuals the opportunity to seek advice and guidance in relation to learning, training and employment.
“Placements give people the chance to try a role hands-on. Although the placements are unpaid they prove helpful for people who have little or no work experience and is an excellent way for job seekers to improve their employability.
“We try to offer the opportunity for people to get a taster of what the work place is like. It’s fantastic to have reached 200 placements and we are getting ourselves ready for the next 200.”
Jack said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my week with Adactus. I didn’t realise there were so many different roles within one organisation and I was lucky to sample a different team each day during my placement.
“I just need to decide now which one I would like to do.” For more details call: 0845 505 3355 or 0300 111 1133.
