The Forest of Bowland has received a £10,000 boost, thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)is one of the first in the country to receive money from the newly-created small grant programme, All Our Stories.
It was set up earlier this year to allow more people to get involved in their local heritage.
A group of volunteers in Bowland has already been working on a project called A Leap in the Park, which will tell the story of two medieval deer parks at Chipping and Whitewell.
The grant of £9,600 means they can now move on to create a website, digital walking guides, packs for schools and workshops.
Cathy Hopley of the AONB team said: “This award is great news for Bowland. We hope during 2013 many more people will have the opportunity to take a walk in the medieval deer parks and to find out more about this fascinating period of history.”
