A large group of young people from Lancashire who have completed the challenging Duke of Edinburgh’s Programme (DofE) will receive their Gold Awards next month.
The official ceremony will take place on February 10 at St James’s Palace in London.
The 71 young people, who are between 16 and 24, all achieved their DofE Gold Awards with support from Lancashire County Council’s Young People’s Service.
Matthew Tomlinson, cabinet member for young people and schools, said: “When you look at what’s required to get the Bronze or Silver Award, you realise that the DofE programme is no mean feat.
“The Gold Award is even more challenging.
“The activities are very demanding and anyone who achieves this award deserves full recognition.
“I would like to congratulate the young people on their award.”
