Women across Preston are being urged to don a moustache and join in a world record attempt.
As part of international charity movement, Movember, which sees men across the world grow their facial hair to raise money for charity, a student from UClan, has found a way for women to get involved.
Organiser, Aimee Johnson, from Preston, said: “We are aiming to set a new world record for the most women to be wearing false moustaches in one place at one time.
“So if you want to be a record breaker come along to the Christmas light switch on and flaunt your false moustache.”
The official Guinness world record for the most people in one place wearing a false moustache is 2,268.
And Aimee has decided that gathering people ahead of the city’s Christmas lights switch-on, is the ideal time for the attempt to be made.
She said: “It will be a student-run enterprise initiative, making links with local businesses to encourage people to take part and unite as a community.
“We want to put Preston on the world record map as well as raise awareness and money for mens health.”
The Mayoress of Preston, Barbara Pomfret, has backed the record attempt, saying it is important for awareness of male cancers to be raised.
She said: “I think this event is great and I urge people to come along to the Flag Market to take part or support people taking part.
“Movember is an ever growing charity which raises money for an important cause of improving the lives of men affected by prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health problems.”
To get involved, Aimee and the other ladies taking part will be meeting on Preston’s Flag Market from 5.30pm.
Please bring your own false moustaches to take part
