A family-run garage has raised more than £500 for charity.

A FAMILY-run garage has raised more than £500 for charity.

Penwortham Garage raised the money at the Penwortham Christmas Market and they have now handed over the funds to Galloways Society for the Blind.

Emma Russ, senior fundraiser at Galloway’s, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to go along to Penwortham Garage to support their efforts at the Christmas Markets.

“Their idea was really simple; they’d filled a car with various size balls and were asking the public to pay £1 and guess how many were in the car.

“Guesses varied from 100 to 2,000!

“The local community really got behind the garage.

“The restaurant next door, Salvatores, also helped to
contribute towards the grand total.”

Galloway’s Society for the Blind is a Preston-based charity who support local blind and partially sighted people.

They need to raise £850,000 every year to continue to be able to support people affected by sight loss.

They do this by offering services, advice, support, activities, drop in centres and much more.

Galloway’s Society for the Blind are currently recruiting runners from the community the area to take part in the Virgin London Marathon and the Great North Run.

Spaces are limited.

Anyone who is interested can call Emma Russ on 01772 744148 or 07432 512165 or email emma.russ@galloways.org.uk.
