Not even the torrential rain could dampen the spirits of folk talking part in this year’s Preston City Games.

Dozens of businesses from Preston and beyond went head to head in a host of different sporting events including badminton, football, netball, rounders, rugby, table tennis, and more.

More than 600 people signed up to the games from businesses including the Shout Network, Community Gateway and BAE Systems.

The event kicked off with a golf competition at Ashton and Lea Golf Club on Friday. On Saturday businesses battled it out in various sports at UCLan Sports Arena.

And the games concluded on Sunday with the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce dragon boat race at Preston Docks.

Among the participants at the event was Miss Preston 2014, Stephanie Leeson who joined Preston Council’s netball team for the games.

Jimmy Khan, Chairman of Preston Guild City Games said: “Moving the format of the City Games to a three day weekend has proved very successful with over 650 people from more than 40 Lancashire businesses taking part. “Everyone had a brilliant time – despite some getting wet.”
