TWO pals are set to embark on a gruelling challenge across the Sahara Desert to raise vital funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Sophie Bashall from Preston and Alli Croft from Clitheroe will take part in the week long trek across the world’s largest hot desert between November 2 and 9 and are hoping to raise £1,900 each for local Marie Curie nurses.
The pair said: “This challenge is going to be extremely tough for us, neither of us have ever done anything like this before.
“Some of the dunes will be greater than the height of Pendle Hill! There will be no cold drinks, no toilets, no showers and extreme temperatures! But it’s all for an extremely worthwhile cause that we really want to support”
To help raise the funds for the pair have organised a Midsummer Ball on Friday June 13 at The Inn at Whitewell in Clitheroe, the event will include a four course dinner, pre-dinner drinks and entertainment. For ticket sales and information call the Lancashire Fundraising office on 01254 855042.
