Police have issued a fresh appeal for a teenager who has been missing from home in Preston for a week.

Melissa Hughes, 16, was last seen at about 7pm on October 29 leaving home on Gamull Lane, Ribbleton.

She is described as white, about 5ft tall, of a slim build with blue eyes and shoulder-length blonde hair which has been dyed purple.

She was last thought to be wearing dark clothing and trainers.

Melissa also has a distinctive birth mark below her left eye.

Police believe she may still be within the Preston area, especially the town centre or Fulwood, but she is also thought to have links to Blackpool and Lancaster.

Sgt Neil Weaver, of Preston Police said: “Melissa has been missing for a week now and we are obviously growing increasingly concerned for her welfare.

“We believe she could be with a friend and I would urge anyone who sees her or knows where she might be to get in touch.

“I would also appeal directly to Melissa herself to contact us to let us know she is okay if she sees this appeal.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting reference LC-20141029-1073.
