Cheer: Party goers

A full week of free Christmas dinners has been served up thanks to a grant from Chorley Community Housing’s Neighbourhood Fund.

The meals were served up by staff and volunteers at Chorley Lifestyle Centre, who provided a two course meal along with entertainment each day for the past week.

A raffle also took place, and a craft stall provided the opportunity for some last minute Christmas shopping.

Bernadette Flanagan, social inclusion co-ordinator for Age UK, has also been helping.

She said: “The Christmas dinners have been brilliant.

“Everyone has thoroughly enjoyed it. Good food and good company.”

Chorley Lifestyle Centre helps to reduce the social isolation of older people in the area, with this project aimed at helping people aged over 50 in the Chorley area.

Samantha Hornsby, Neighbourhood Development Officer at CCH said: “I really enjoyed helping out on one of the days.

“It was nice to see the enjoyment so many people got out of the event. This was such a worthwhile project for us to get involved with.”
