Football fans fined for smoking
Six football fans have been fined for smoking at Preston North End's Deepdale stadium since the start of the year, new figures have revealed.
The fans were given 50 fixed penalty notices between January and now by council enforcement officers for flouting anti-smoking laws.
Preston Council warned last year that it was set to clamp down on the practice.
Richard Shelliker, of the official PNE supporters club, who sits in the Sir Tom Finney stand at Deepdale, said he has seen no evidence of fans smoking in the ground.
