A mum of two who shed seven stones has become a fitness instructor at the very gym where she went to lose weight.
Kate Calder, 45, from Goosnargh, near Preston, dropped from 19 stone to 12 stone after becoming a member at the Preston Marriott’s Leisure Club.
She combined exercise with healthy eating and now wants to motivate others to follow in her footsteps in her new role as fitness instructor and personal trainer at the Preston hotel.
Kate said: “When I turned 40, I set myself a goal to lose weight but was really self conscious, and slightly intimidated, about joining a gym.
“I shouldn’t have worried as all the staff and fitness instructors at the Marriott Leisure Club made me feel so welcome and were fantastic at motivating me, devising a bespoke fitness programme and giving me the confidence I needed to achieve my goals. Now I want to share my experiences and motive others in the same way.”
Since completing her training Kate has also set up a running club and has competed in four half marathons, three 10km races and the Total Warrior event.
She’s currently in training for the Great North Run and the Great Manchester Run.
She added: “I hope I can inspire people to achieve their goals. The hardest thing is deciding to do something about it but, once you do, you’ll soon see results.
“I’m really looking forward to helping people achieve things they never thought they could by forming new habits and sticking to them – I’m living proof of that.”
