A procession of limousines followed Michael ‘Mixie’ Walsh as he was taken on one last journey through the streets of Blackpool earlier today.

Hundreds of people gathered to say their final farewell to the 84-year-old, whose body was taken from The Ardwick pub in Foxhall Road to St Kentigern’s Church in Newton Drive for a funeral service at noon.

Mr Walsh, who once famously saw off the Kray twins and was described as a ‘true gentleman’ by his family, died on October 9 following a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Daughter-in-law Charley Walsh said: “He was a legend and the last of his kind.”
