Withnell Fold WI

The speaker at the June meeting of Withnell Fold Wi was John Higgins whose talk was entitled "What's in John's box?"

He had six different boxes containing a fascinating selection of objects from the past and these were passed round for people to guess their use.

The ones easily guessed were an eyebath and a bone teething ring.

But there were many that were almost impossibke to decide on.

John had an interesting tale to tell about most of the items and members really enjoyed the evening.

He was thanked by Jocyce Clayton.

The competition for "something I should have thrown away" was won by Brenda Wallis with a single old tennis pump.

Birthday flowers were presented to Joyce Harrison.

Members are enjoying their monthly evening walks followed by supper at a local hostelery.

The next meeting is in July 16 and Maureen Hartley will be introducing Folk Dancing.

The competition is for a coloured scarf.
