Ask the experts - post-festive detoxing

Evening Post columnist and owner of award-winning Green House Natural Health Store Mike Arnold has some tips on post-festive detoxing.

The business, which has shops in Longridge, Garstang and online, has won awards for quality of service, impressive range of exclusive natural body care products, and its stocking policy, which allows for premium grade food supplements and herbal remedies.

In this New Year guide to kick starting your body into the New Year, Mike Arnold goes through two ways you can clear out your liver: Milk thistle supplement and the lemon medal detox diet.

Mike says: "Milk thistle contains a fantastic ingredient called Silybum marianun which helps to cleanse all the gunk and rubbish out of the liver."

And the medal tree syrup, or 'lemon medal' diet is a superb way to cleanse yourself of all the toxins and impurities, especially after the season of indulgence."

Mike says there is a common misconception that detoxing is starving your body, but instead it is cleansing your body and giving it the tools to repair itself.

"Many people are afraid of detox but it makes you feel fantastic and the medal syrup contains all the nutrients you need so you shouldn't feel hungry."

Mike recommends drinking plenty of water when detoxing , "as it'll help flush the toxins out of your system".

And if staying off solid foods is not for you, then there are other ways to cleanse your body, whether its through choosing to stay off caffeine, alcohol or opting for fresh organic produce wherever possible.
