The family of an award-winning bus engineer have paid tribute to “a true gentleman”.
Jim Hilton, who died of a heart attack aged 66 on Wednesday, August 21, was engineering manager at Preston Bus from 2008 and held a series of director engineering roles since 1986.
His children, Simon, Paul and Louise, said: “Words can not describe the heartache that the family is experiencing at this time, but comfort is taken by the incredible legacy that our dad will leave behind in the bus industry.
“Our dad had five loves - his children, his long term partner, Sylvia, his Dog, Mitzi, Liverpool Football Club and the bus industry.”
They added: “Wherever your path takes you, we will walk beside you always and forever Dad. You have been taken away from us too soon and our love for you will never fade.
“You were a true gentleman. One of a kind. Anyone that came into contact with you instantly warmed to your character.”
