Police are in the area directing traffic, and Lancashire County Council’s highways department have been called to clear the tree.

A police spokesman said: “Three out of four lanes are blocked, but traffic can get through using one lane, though heavy traffic is building up in the area.

“Lancashire County Council have been made aware of the issue and we hope the blockage will be removed quickly.”

Nobody was injured when the tree fell.
