'Fake' doctor and vet facing 84 charges
A Lancashire man has been charged with more than 80 offences including fraudulently claiming he was a doctor and a vet.
Russell Lewis Oakes, 42, of Shore Road, Hesketh Bank, has been charged with 84 offences including fraud by false representation, sexual assault, cruelty to animals, perverting the course of justice and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
A 39-year-old woman, believed to be his partner, has also been charged with perverting the course of justice.
They will appear at North Sefton Magistrates' Court next month.
The alleged offences relate to a period between October 2006 and March last year, a spokesman for Merseyside Police said.
A spokesman for The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) confirmed that Oakes had been admitted on to its register on November 14, 2006.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "Merseyside Police have charged a man with 84 offences relating to fraud by false representation as a medical doctor, fraud by false representation as a veterinary surgeon, deception, sexual assault, cruelty to animals, perverting the course of justice and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
"Russell Lewis Oakes, aged 42, of Shore Road, Hesketh Bank, Preston, has been bailed to appear at North Sefton Magistrates' Court on March 20.
"Joanne Conroy, aged 39, of Shore Road, Hesketh Bank, Preston, has been charged with perverting the course of justice and was bailed to appear before the same court on the same date."
