After waving good-bye to her career in recruitment consultancy and giving birth to her son, Safira Ibrahim from the Preston area, decided to follow her passion and dreams of becoming a make-up artist.

Having completed her professional training, Safira then worked at various high end make-up counters for industry experts such as Illamasqua and Mac.

This allowed for her to gain the skills and knowledge needed to boost her career in beauty. She says:

“As fashion changes, so do make up trends and working on a cosmetic counter ensures you are always one step ahead of the game.”

Here she explains this seasons make up trends and talks through her favourite products.

“The SS14 make-up trends is all about raw & minimal natural beauty with a few pops of pastel shades, some elements of this trend are timeless and beyond trend.”

“I think it’s important to make your skin look and feel fresh and feminine. This season is focussing on creating a fresh and flawless face image.”

Here are Safira’s go-to products:

Volcanic Ash-

“It really is the best exfoliator I have ever used. It makes a wonderful cleanser & exfoliating scrub, it unclogs the skin and adds instant moisture that leaves the skin soft and cleansed.”

Strobe Cream-

“There is nothing quite like beautiful flawless skin, this strobe cream can give you just that! It’s absolute perfection. Anyone looking for a subtle way to add texture & a soft sheen to the skin, needs to get their hands on this bottle of goodness.”

MAC Face & Body foundation-

“Simply AMAZING! Ideal for all skin types, looks like your skin but better. I love this foundation. It’s perfect for all weather seasons from spring all the way through to winter. The build-able coverage allows you to have it as sheer or as heavy as you wish.”

#217 Mac brush-

“My most important tool and I LOVE it!Blending is key to a perfect eye. My favourite feature to work on is the eyes as they are so expressive. I love how you can create a ‘mood’ with make-up & transform or alter the appearance of your personality. Be who you want to be ‘sweet & cute’ or ‘tough & sexy’.”

“Being a mum of two young children I have limited time in front of the mirror! Grabbing a bright fun coloured lipstick & adding that for a pop of colour is a quick time saving way of feeling like a yummy mummy! My favourite colours are: ‘Girl about town’, ‘Rebel’, ‘Russian red’ & ‘Up the amp’.”

Although summer feels like a lifetime away it really is just around the corner..make your make-up POP!
