Exhibition gives Mexican pottery a new dimension

Making the switch from Mexico to north Lancashire has been captured on camera as part of an explosive exhibition of transatlantic culture.

The documentary, called El Canto de Lancashire, captures the visit of two of Mexico's finest ceramic artists, Tiburcio and Israel Soteno, and will be screened at Viva Mexico, an exhibition running at the Museum of Lancashire in Stanley Street, Preston.

The film shows the pair's six-week visit to an art studio in Melling, near Lancaster, earlier this year, where they ran open studio sessions and workshops.

It will be part of the exhibition, which runs until January 26, which aims to capture the "vibrancy and vitality" of Mexican culture through works by its artists and craftspeople.

The exhibition is open all week (except Thursday) from 10.30am to 5pm and costs 3 for adults and 2 for concessions.
