There is a case for moving house before the Christmas holiday
Many people at the moment are considering whether to market their property before or after Christmas.
With Christmas just around the corner, the market isn’t easy, but sales are still being agreed.
So before deciding, I try to run through the benefits of both scenarios with my clients.
Firstly, the benefits of marketing prior to Christmas.
If there is just one solitary buyer out there we will find them for you! It’s the old adage ‘you’ve got to be in it to win it’ and of course the buyers looking at this time of year are very serious about finding a home.
If you do decide to market your property, my advice would be to instruct us before you start dressing your home for Christmas, as you do not want to date your photographs.
If you are favouring the New Year to sell your home, it is a great time to hit the open market.
A fresh year with new potential buyers starting to look combines with a traditionally busy time for couples setting out together to find a home.
Indeed we are extremely busy at the moment, getting property up and running in readiness for ‘launching’ in the New Year.
The benefits my clients have is that I have a good few weeks to get the best photographs I can, re-shoot if necessary, and prepare the marketing material to get it perfect for the 2nd of January.
We also open for a few days in between Christmas and New Year to try and catch new buyers who are starting to look for a home, and we also use this time to get the window ready for a brand new year so there are no delays when everyone is back to work.
