Three huge trailers carrying wind turbine blades slowed traffic as they trundled through Lancashire.
The convoy needed a police escort as it travelled north on the M6 and then turned on to the M65 towards the east of the county on Tuesday morning.
The 45-metre long blades were en route from Liverpool Docks to the controversial Coal Clough Wind Farm at Cliviger near Burnley.
They were part of a consignment of turbine parts being shipped in over a six-week period starting last month.
ScottishPower Renewables are replacing 24 turbines which have been on the hills above since 1992 with eight modern versions standing 110-metres high.
