Renewable deadline set

Residents in South Ribble have just a week left to have their say on renewable energy.

The borough council is carrying out a consultation on new planning guidance for renewable energy projects across the area.

A draft document sets out advice and guidance on the appropriate location and suitability of renewable and low carbon energy schemes in South Ribble.

Coun Cliff Hughes, cabinet member for strategic planning, said: “We have seen an increase in the number of planning applications and enquiries about renewable and low carbon energy projects in South Ribble and this new document sets out how we will assess this type of development in future.

“It gives guidance, advice and clarity on how we plan to balance the needs of protecting our environment with the growing demand for renewable energy and low carbon technology. We are keen to hear people’s views.”

The consultation closes on February 28. Log on to www.southribble.gov.uk or visit Leyland Civic Centre or local libraries.
