Green Flags will be flying high once again in South Ribble after three borough parks were named among the best in the country.
The flags are set to be raised in the coming weeks in Worden Park, Penwortham’s Hurst Grange Park and Longton Brickcroft Nature Reserve after they all retained their coveted Green Flag awards.
Grade II listed Worden Park has now received 17 consecutive flags – one for every year since the scheme began in 1997. It is only one of six in the UK, and the only one north of London, to achieve this.
Longton Brickcroft Nature Reserve has held the award for 16 years running, with Hurst Grange Park receiving a flag every year since 2005.
Councillor Peter Mullineaux thanked hard-working staff and volunteers for their continued efforts.
