More consultation over fracking plan

OBJECTIONS: Helen Rimmer

OBJECTIONS: Helen Rimmer

The Environment Agency has announced a four-week extension to the consultation period for Cuadrilla’s permit applications to frack for gas in Roseacre Wood in Roseacre and Preston New Road, Little Plumpton.

Steve Molyneux, the EA environment manager for Lancashire, said: “Our regulatory controls are in place to protect people and the environment. We always take the views of the local community seriously.”

Helen Rimmer of Friends of the Earth claimed earlier this week they had collected thousands of objections which they will be submitting.

A Cuadrilla spokesman said: “We support public involvement and consultation and will continue to comply with all of the necessary planning and regulatory procedures.”
