The Lancashire Green Awards are back again for a fifth year, and this year we are pleased to welcome on board Remsol as the principal sponsor of the Awards.
These prestigious awards recognise and celebrate the environmental achievement of individuals and groups of people from across the county however big or small the impact is.
Today we are featuring the Green Family Award.
Last year, the Nuttall family from Colne won the title.
On receiving the prize Sandra Nuttall said: “Recycling should have been my middle name!
“If we can’t re-use it then maybe someone else can.
“We regularly use Freecycle a great way to get items for free that no-one else wants or needs.
“We regularly wear recycled clothing from friends and charity shops and we recycle all our recyclables and compost our own waste.
“We have adapted a small piece of land for growing, mainly soft fruit, but just recently we have now got our very own allotment and already our over winter onions are in and where practicable we will walk to save on fuel costs and reduce emissions.”
The award will go - once again - to the family who shows the most commitment to recycling and every day green living for the whole family.
This can include recycling waste within the home, re-use of any products, growing your own fruit and veg, use of energy efficient light bulbs, using public transport or any initiative however small that contributes to green living.
So if your family loves to recycle or you know a green family who use their home as a hub for environmentally friendly products, get in touch.
We would encourage anyone to enter, you never know, you could be shortlisted and invited to the glittering awards ceremony and three-course dinner at The De Vere Village Hotel, Blackpool which takes place in November.
