Centre opened
A recycling centre which has been closed for improvements has been officially opened.
Farington Recycling Centre on Flensburg Way, one of the busiest in the county, now has a new layout which allows people to access recycling containers without having to climb up steps.
There is also a new system for emptying skips which means the site will not have to close while full containers are exchanged for empty ones.
Coun Albert Atkinson, deputy leader of Lancashire County Council, said: “There used to be problems with traffic queuing onto Flensburg Way when the containers were being changed, but the new layout should help tackle this problem.”
The centre now offers recycling facilities for soil, rubble, oils and asbestos.
