Call for action on flooding

West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper

West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has met with the Environment Agency to discuss the future of drainage maintenance and pumping stations.

The area was badly hit by flooding in 2012, and now West Lancashire Council has decided not fund a drainage board to take responsibility, Mrs Cooper wants reassurance over maintenance work.

Mrs Cooper said: “After the council refused to provide the monies for an internal drainage board we appear to have hit a road block. Unfortunately, this will be far from reassuring for homeowners and landowners who are still living with the cost and the impact of the flooding in 2012.”
