NOMINATIONS are now open for the South Ribble Community Awards, which celebrate the work of people and organisations across the borough.

Members of the public have until noon on April 30 to submit their nominations for five different award categories.

This year will be the second Community Awards ceremony, organised by South Ribble Partnership, following on from the success of the 2013 event.

The five categories are: Business in the community award; Community impact award; Volunteer of the year (over 25s); Young volunteer of the year (under 24s) and a Special achievement award

Shortlisted nominees will be invited to this year’s South Ribble Big Do on June 5, where the winners will be announced.

Leader of South Ribble Council Coun Margaret Smith, said: “I had the pleasure of handing out last year’s awards to some wonderful members of the community who truly deserved to be recognised for all they do in South Ribble.”

She added: “I’m sure there are lots more people out there that could be winners this year, so do get your nominations in as soon as possible.”
