THE best friends of a new mum battling terminal cancer are organising a winter wonderland ball to raise cash for charity.

Pals of Emma Grandison will host the Winter Wonderland Charity Ball at The Pines Hotel in Clayton le Woods in November in aid of the Rosemere Cancer Foundation and the neonatal unit at the Royal Preston Hospital.

Emma, 31, from Longton, near Preston, was just 16 weeks pregnant with her first child when she found out the devastating news that she had bowel cancer and secondary cancer on her liver

Since finding out Emma married Ian and baby Erin was born in November last year.

Emma’s positive attitude has inspired many people and she has received support from all corners of the globe, in particular from her loving family and friends.

This week marks a year since Emma was diagnosed but her inspirational fight continues.

Friends Kerry Walsh, Lisa Franks and Jenny Hollowood-Smith hope the ball will raise much needed funds for the charities that have supported Emma and Erin.

Kerry, 41, from Walton-le-Dale, said: “We feel that giving something back to these two charities is the least we can do to say thank you for their care and support over the past year in looking after two amazing fighters.

“Please help us raise as much money as possible for the charities by supporting this event, either by buying tickets or donating something for the raffle or auction.”

Emma said: “My three best friends are all working tirelessly pulling together an event to raise much needed funds towards the units that have done so much for myself and my daughter.

“Days for me are getting harder but Erin is getting stronger. Events like this really give me a boost and I thank everyone who is involved in pulling it together.

“Let’s raise lots of money and have a fun night.”

Tickets for the event are £33 and include an arrival drink, three course meal, a Michael Buble Tribute Act, a DJ, raffle and auction.

Tickets available either from The Pines Hotel direct, or through the event’s Facebook page, search ‘Winter Wonderland’ or email Winterball2014@hotmail.com
