Emergency services struggle to free injured woman, 82

It took the emergency services around an hour to free the casualty from the rear bedroom of a house in Millcroft, Fulwood.

She had suffered a suspected fractured hip in the fall at around 2am.

“The ambulance service asked for our help because the lady was in an awkward place and they were finding it difficult getting her on a stretcher,” said a fire brigade spokesman at Preston.

“She was in great pain and, after the paramedics had stabilised her, we assisted them to get her on to the stretcher and downstairs to the ambulance.”
