Red trousers, skirts, dresses and jumpers were donned by pupils and staff at Whitechapel Primary School, near Preston, to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.

There was even a red Rainbow uniform worn by one little girl, while another took along a red heart-shaped handbag.

A spokeswoman said: “It was a fantastic day and everyone made a big effort, raising £244.72.”

Children were treated to a red-themed lunch menu of pasta with red pepper sauce followed by strawberry jelly and ice cream plus red berries.
