Dancing on ice: Year 2 pupils from St Augustines Primary School in Preston skate on the ice-rink at the school as part of the Guild celebrations

There were a few slippery customers turning up for class at St Augustine’s School... but no-one was complaining.

The hall at the St Austin’s Place school in Avenham , Preston, was transformed into an ice-rink as a finale to the Preston Guild celebrations.

Many of the pupils hadn’t been on the ice before but according to their teachers had a great time slipping and sliding across the rink.

Besides staff, there were a few other helpers on hand in the guise of penguin-shaped stabilisers.

They children had so much fun they didn’t want to go back to class .

Although they weren’t quite up to Dancing on Ice standards, the energetic youngsters had a chance to show off their skating talents, giivng the idea full marks.

They can’t wait for a repeat performance.
