Adam Burrows, a PE lecturer at Edge Hill University, has vowed to support the Elimination of Leukaemia fund (ELF), a charity that is helping to advance the cure and treatment of the disease.
His brother was diagnosed with the disease when he was only eight years old.
Having taken part in a number of half marathons and running the London Marathon in 2003, Adam hopes that this will be his best race yet.
He said:“I don’t particularly like running but having something to run for motivates me. “Anything I raise will help the ELF charity greatly which is something that will really spur me on.”
The marathon is on April 13.
