Bosses at a crisis-hit school have been locked in talks with staff in a bid to end a year of turmoil which led to teachers walking out on strike.

Parents of pupils at Leyland St Mary’s Catholic Technology College were so fed up of internal rows that some have moved their children to other school. Others complained that they were “being kept in the dark” over the disputes, which saw pickets at the Royal Avenue gates last month after the headteacher returned from “gardening leave”.

Now parents have been told that talks took place this week to try to “draw a line” under the troubles.
