Students in Euxton learn about '˜British Values'

Children at a primary school in Euxton enjoyed a week focusing on British Values.

Leading up to half term pupils at Euxton CofE Primary School learnt about democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of other faiths and beliefs.

Assistant head teacher Mairi Ash said: “We’ve had many visitors into school to support our learning about British Values and how great it is to be British.

“We made a human Union Jack flag with children from our neighbouring school St. Mary’s R.C. Primary School, Euxton and enjoyed a visit from PCSO Ray and Carl exploring their police van and equipment.

“We had a talk and workshops about Fairtrade and how we can support those from other countries in getting a fair wage. We also raised enough money on our ‘red, white and blue’ day to sponsor a little boy in Kenya through Action Aid.

“To end our week we welcomed our MP Lindsay Hoyle into school who spoke to the children about democracy and his role in Parliament.

“He even stayed with us to enjoy a Friday Favourites school dinner.”
