A dinner arranged by sixth form students at a Lancashire college has raised almost £17,000 for charity.
Every student in Stonyhurst’s year 12 was involved in planning and delivering of The Poetry Banquet, an annual tradition at Stonyhurst, which was enjoyed by over 250 guests.
Headmaster Andrew Johnson said: “I am always very proud of our students on these occasions.
“They all work as a team to produce a first-class event for a very good cause and they have certainly excelled themselves this year.”
Funds raised from ticket sales, an auction and raffle, go to the Stonyhurst Children’s Holiday Trust, which gives children from local special schools a summer holiday at Stonyhurst every year.
Students waited tables, performed card tricks at each table, and played music as well as giving a ‘Great Gatsby’ dance performance.
