School hosts table tennis event

Success is one is one big rally - as a Preston school found out when it netted a sporting coup.

The city's Christ The King Catholic High in Frenchwood played host to top table international table tennis players.

The Indian team, coaches from Preston Table Tennis Club, reps from England Table Tennis Association, took time out from an international event to give more than 150 Preston youngsters a few tips.

Pupils from four primary schools also attended the event, at the Lawrence Avenue high school; St Teresa's Catholic Primary, Frenchwood Primary, St Matthew'ss CE and, Deepdale Juniors.

The event also gave the year 10 sports leaders a chance to brush up on their coaching skills.

A school spokesman said the day provided a rare opportunity for pupils to learn alongside international players and coaches from Preston.

The coaching sessions were followed by demonstration matches by the Indian team players and fun challenges against pupils.
