Leading up to the World Challenge trip to Romania, the group of seven AKS students had raised money to aid with the project while on expedition.

Most of it was given to Romanian charities to help house and feed young children and within the project to build and paint an outdoor classroom facility for a children’s home.

Pupils decided to donate money which came in afterwards to a local charity and presented a cheque to Brian House, a specialist unit within Trinity Hospice providing palliative care for children.

The group was treated to a guided tour of the facilities .

One of the team said: “We were shown all around the house; from the kitchen and specially equipped bedrooms, to the sensory room and corridor, followed by the recreational spaces.

“It’s a fantastic place.”
